An Illustrated History of an Extraordinary Street Railway in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil by Allen Morrison
This website is dedicated to the memory of Charles Julius Dunlop, who was president of the Companhia Ferro-Carril Carioca and my first friend in Brazil. Many of the photographs came from his collection. Most of the information in the photo captions is contained in my book, THE TRAMWAYS OF BRAZIL: A 130-YEAR SURVEY, whose text (in English) is now on line. I also have a special webpage about Rio's ALTO DA BOA VISTA line. Also visit my other webpage about All material on these pages © Allen Morrison 1998-2098. Despite the notice above, displayed for over a decade, the Secretaria de Transportes ("SETRAN") of the Governo do Rio de Janeiro copied 26 images from this website, meticulously removed all photo credit from them, then posted them on its website, without my knowledge or permission, without any reference whatsoever to their source, and without any credit to the photographers and collectors involved. Despite repeated requests that the images be either properly credited or removed, nothing has been done. Stealing them is bad enough. Erasing the names of the photographers and collectors, then claiming them as one's own, is criminal. www.tramz.com/br/rj/st/st.html WEBSITE LAUNCHED 24 JULY 1998 |
